Meet the Team
At Portobello Institute we share a common commitment to quality, a structured approach to learning and a focus on industry links as well as care for the individual learners.
Our academic team along with programme managers and teaching staff are the heart of the college who inspire and support our students on a daily basis and throughout their educational journey with us. To ensure full relevant support for every learner we have a programme manager in place for every department. All with significant experience within their sector we are delighted to show just some of our dedicated team.
Fiona has been devoted over 22 years at Portobello Institute training beauty students through their education guiding and inspiring trainee students through their practical and theoretical skills.
“To teach is to touch a life forever.”
Fiona trained in Bronwyn Conroy School of Beauty many years ago where she managed a salon and taught in the school.
Fiona was the very first employee in the beauty department and helped set up the beauty department and is heavily involved in the department to this day.
She teaches the trainee students to be well presented, articulate and capable beauty therapists with the ability to provide the necessary customer care and service required to ensure overall client satisfaction.
The programme offered here gives the students the skillset to carry out skin and eye treatments, manicure, pedicure, waxing, body massage, machine therapy and makeup modules.
The learning environment nurtures the students to practice the multiple techniques and build on their confidence and competency and ability to carry out a variety of treatments on customers and help them to look and feel their best.
Our teaching also includes nurturing the trainee to become excellent communicators who can relate well with the customer in a professional manner and can work well as part of a team or individually.
Students are equipped to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and consider no job too big or too small.
Fiona plays an important role in helping students to network and find work experience during their college course to further emphasise their confidence and skills to a professional level.
Fiona has always been heavily involved in the Live Salons for students to gained further hands on experience working on real life clients and the perfect inspiration for their first step into the professional world.
True to her sheer dedication Fiona has also kept in contact with many of her past students who are working at home and abroad in the States, Australia, Canada in many beauty roles including cruise ships.
“It is my pride and joy being able to follow them in their careers worldwide”.
