Sports Therapy Graduate Dan O Mahony on securing a place on his dream course in Physiotherapy
We are delighted to share a short insight into an inspirational journey from one of our successful sports therapy degree graduates, Dan O’ Mahony.
Throughout is entire life Dan has always had a very strong interest in all things sports and competed at a high level in his chosen sport of rugby. This keen interest in sports meant Dan always had a really strong desire to study a sports related degree programme.
After a lot of research around suitable options Dan enrolled on a sports degree programme at Portobello Institute. This is a Level 8 honours degree, completed over 3 years for a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy awarded by London Metropolitan University (LMU). A core highlight for many is that the first year of the degree is common with the sports science and coaching degrees so students can explore both the therapy and coaching and science elements of sport before deciding on the route they wish to follow at the end of first year.
Dan had one ultimate goal which was to study Physiotherapy and believes that “Portobello Institute provided me with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge for me to attain my ultimate career goal”. “I was also very fortunate to be given the opportunity to study with a great class of students and extremely supportive lecturers”.
Dan graduated in Autumn 2018 with his peers and is currently furthering his studies on his dream course Physiotherapy with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and we wish Dan all the very best in his Masters degree and ongpoing journey to his dream job.
