With constant sector advancements together with a dedicated forward-thinking academic team we continue to update our sports department with relevant study options for learners.
Throughout 2018 Dr. Susan Giblin, innovative sports programme manager at Portobello Institute has been heavily involved in both the creation and development of innovative new sports degrees at Portobello.
Students can now specialise across 4 distinct disciplines from BSc (Hons) in performance analysis, physical education & coaching and psychology. These degrees have been specifically developed and will be positioned alongside our current BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy.
Alongside our degree programmes students can choose from a full schedule of relevant part-time courses across ITEC Gym instructor & personal training, nutrition, massage and sports management.Explore Sport

On successful completion of his sports therapy degree, Dan O’Mahony was accepted on the RCSI Master’s Degree in physiotherapy.
Matthew Bursey was passionate about sports and teaching others, however, he didn’t believe he had the academic ability to become a PE teacher until now!
Sports Programme Manager
Susan has a research track-record that includes publishing in high-ranking international scientific journals and has co-authored book chapters on sports performance. Susan’s main research area to date has focused on the development and validation of technologies for performance assessment.
