Fundamental responsibilities are to:

Lead groups of people through the city’s most famous sights

Confidently provide in-depth knowledge of all areas of keen interest

Manage the safety of all the customers

Some qualities of a good tour guide are:

An excellent communicator

Fantastic customer service

Leadership and public speaking skills

Friendly and enthusiastic manner

No two tour groups are ever the same so a day in the life of a tour guide can be extremely varied and rewarding. Constantly meeting new people is exciting and an important part of the role also includes listening to travellers stories from around the world. Every day can be challenging working with different people and situations, but it is exhilarating showing tourists what a wonderful city, county Dublin and surroundings are.
