Debbie Hopkins, dedicated Makeup tutor

We are delighted to share this bio on one of our dedicated makeup tutors, Debbie Hopkins.

Debbie’s impressive journey demonstrates the never-ending possibilities and new opportunities that arise from completing an ITEC qualification in Makeup Artistry, and a great example for anyone wishing to start their career as a Makeup Artist in Ireland. 

For Debbie, “Portobello Institute is an ever-changing college, moving with Industry and offering the best services and qualifications to students so it’s nice to be part of that”. 

Debbie enjoys that every new term brings a new challenge, with a collection of new faces, each with their own individual personalities and sets of goals.  She loves being part of the beginning of their educational journey starting with the very basics through to proudly witnessing them as graduates going on to work for exclusive makeup counters including MAC and Inglot. 

Coming highly qualified as an ITEC qualified Makeup Artist along with an ITEC Lecturing Diploma and dedicates herself to teaching and working in Industry. Debbie also comes with exceptional experience within the sector having worked on beauty show competitions, TV and magazine shoots, Irish celebrities and the Voice of Ireland. 

Her love for makeup is apparent as Debbie continues to work as a freelance makeup artist within in the industry. Exciting makeovers have been extensive and include clients attending Cannes Film Festival 2018 and former clients include former Miss Bikini Ireland. 

Debbie understands the importance of staying on top of trends and regularly completes short courses and attends masterclasses and seminars to update her own knowledge on the ever-expanding beauty brands and products. She has completed a start your own business, social media course and a recent creative makeup course. 

“I love to teach beauty and glam makeup as that’s what I mostly do as a freelance artist. I love to see students starting at the very basics in makeup and see how far they have come. That in itself is an amazing achievement to have been part of that journey with someone.”
