ECCE with Montessori Pedagogy L6: Part Time Weekend
Students wishing to study the full ECCE award with the Montessori curriculum can do so by studying all of the modules through blended learning. The Montessori modules are run on a schedule between October and June . A support tutor is allocated and there are 7 weekend workshops to support students gaining experience with the practical materials. The weekend workshops for Montessori run on average once per month from October to May.
QQI Full Major Award in Montessori Teaching with ECCE
Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.
The Montessori pedagogy curriculum is delivered during weekend workshops which are held approximately once per month for 7 months. These workshops are held on a Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and are designed to give students the opportunity to practise with the Montessori materials.
The ECCE modules are delivered by blended learning with a seminar at the beginning of the module - students are assigned a tutor to support them throughout their studies.
The 4 modules to gain the full major award are available to start throughout the year. There is an online portal with students accessing the coursework online
Part 1 includes the following modules the Montessori Modules
Early Learning Environment
Early Childhood Literacy and Numeracy
Early Childhood Arts and Culture
Part 2 focuses on the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child aged 0-6 years. There is the opportunity to consider other types of early years provision including state, private, voluntary and institutional. These modules are listed below and are required to achieve the Early Years Care & Education major award. .

The 4 modules to complete the ECCE level 6 Major award are theory based, we offer students the opportunity and convenience to study by blended learning. This approach is ideally suited to these modules as it allows a more flexible learning journey with students having up to 12 months to complete the remaining 4 modules. There is a calendar of workshops and students have a choice of when they wish to attend. As students have already completed the main Montessori method modules, generally these remaining modules are completed with ease however full tutor support is available with programme managers also available to meet and support students to complete assignments
