Montessori Part 2 - Early Years Care & Education - Blended Learning
To meet the needs of an expanding Early Years Care and Education (ECCE) sector Portobello Institute aims to provide a solid, integrated, unified approach to the delivery of ECCE training. Our Early Years course is delivered in two stages and it aims to develop in our Learners the highest level of professional competence as practitioners, establishing in them a wide knowledge and a deep understanding of educational practices in conjunction with the principles set down by Síolta: the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Aistear: the Framework for Early Learning.
Early Years and Education Level 6 (Stage 2)
Stage 2 of the Early Years course provides an opportunity for the Learner to gain an understanding of the concept of progression in child development and be able to devise a range of activities that will promote physical, social, emotional, intellectual development in children from 0-6 years. Learners will also reflect on the wide range of early years provision, including private, voluntary, independent and state-maintained and explore both historical and contemporary perspectives on key areas of theory and research underpinned early years practice. It is imperative that practitioners understand other approaches to curricula so that they can embrace a variety of philosophies and weave certain aspects or thinking into their work. Wherever graduates opt to work, upon successful completion of the course, the modules selected give support to the safety and well-being of all children and their families.
What is Blended Learning?
If you are working full-time with limited spare time yet you want to achieve your degree qualification, this is very much suited to your needs. During the induction workshop, you will be given your log-in details to the online portal, "Weblearn". Here you will find course notes, reading lists, podcasts, articles of interest and assessment guidelines. The content is structured in an easy to "find and follow" week by week format. You will need basic computer skills such as searching the internet and typing a word document.
Each module commences with an induction seminar and you will meet your lead tutor during this seminar. You can upload your assessments and your tutor will give you feedback on whether you are on the right track before you submit the final version. Blended learning allows you to study at your time with support available throughout your learning journey.
