Providing support services at an appropriate cost is the core function of facilities and workplace management. Demonstrating skills in effective service provision and monitoring, understanding cost control, people management, and application of technology are the every day activities of the facilities manager. There has been little innovation or investment within Higher Education Institutes in Ireland for the education of those in this profession. This BSc (Hons) in Facilities & Workplace Management and the follow-on programme of a Masters in Facilities & Workplace Management are the only programmes and qualifications of their type available in Ireland.
The principal aim for all awards in this pathway is to educate students, from a wide variety of backgrounds, to reach their full potential at graduate level. Portobello Institute has been involved in the development of training and educating facilities managers for over 15 years. We understand the educational needs of those working in this sector. We recognise the challenges of working long hours in a demanding role whilst trying to balance home life.
A blended learning delivery mode with supported workshops has been researched as the delivery mode most suited to those seeking to gain qualifications to advance their career in this sector. Studying at a time convenient to you without the necessity of having to attend lectures at a set time each week has immense advantages. This programme has also been designed to give opportunity to those with strong experience but perhaps little formal education. Advanced entry points have been created to afford those with previous qualifications recognition of their qualifications. Assessments are practical application of skills required by FM in the workplace. Industry experts are the tutors delivering the module content and supporting you throughout your learning journey.
With the demand and opportunities for professionally qualified facilities and workplace managers at an all time high, this degree gives you the opportunity to obtain an Honours degree, designed to fit learning around your working life without compromising work-life balance.
