The Dublin City and Environs Tour Guide Programme is a QQI Level 6 qualification aimed at those who wish to train as a Tourist Guide specifically around Dublin City and it’s environs. This course combines practical tour guiding skills with the theoretical knowledge to enable learners to provide guiding and tour management services for tourists in Dublin city and its environs.  Learners will explore the historic, cultural and social aspects of the city and the region.  They will learn how to provide a commentary and organise and manage a tour. Practical experience will be gained through a series of simulated guided tours.

Industry Day

Before completion of the programme, Portobello

Institute arrange an Industry Day for students. In preparation for this day, students will be advised on preparing their CV. Tour operators are invited to meet students and advise them of the opportunities available within their companies. The purpose of the day is to facilitate a meeting between tour operators and students so they can meet in person, putting a face and personality to the CV. This has proved to be very successful for graduates and tour operators with a high percentage of graduates gaining employment as a result of the day.

Course Costs

The fee for this programme is €1,999. Protection for learner insurance fee is €80.

Class Sizes

Protection for Learners
