A World of Opportunities
Here at Portobello Institute's Travel and Tourism Department we offer a varied and exciting range of well established and accredited courses.
Our objective is to equip the student with up-to-date, real-world knowledge and skills that can lead to career opportunities and/or progression to higher education.
New for Autumn 2015 is our newly developed Tourism with Airline and Cabin Crew Training Course. Unlike many Level 5 and Level 6 courses delivered in Ireland, Tourism with Business, Airline and Cabin Crew Training at Portobello Institute gives you the best possible chance to secure work within the Tourism and Airline Industry.
We are proud to have on board a strong team of industry-based lecturers that are well respected in their field, and can add value to the student's learning with their years of experience. Our long history in education has afforded us strong relationships with industry, and as such, we can support students in gaining work experience and we regularly incorporate guest speakers and excursions to add further depth to our courses.
Last semester, we teamed up with the DAA and International Academy of Travel. Our educational partners essentially give our students backstage passes to Dublin and Waterford Airports. In fact, the students had their practical exam for Cabin Crew Training on a mock Aircraft in Waterford Airport. You can read about it here on our blog or on our facebook page.
Best of all, our students are paid during their work experience module. Yes, that's right; you read it correctly...our students are paid during their work experience.
As a result of building working relationships with many employers in the Tourism Industry, our students are specifically chosen by one of Ireland’s leading International Events Company to host many International Conferences in the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). See some of our students at work here.
We value feedback from industry experts and Una Miley, A Touch of Ireland had great things to say about our recent students.
A Touch of Ireland has been working closely over the last few years with Portobello College in sourcing staff as host/hostesses at conferences. We find their students to be particularly well suited to the work since they are all studying tourism/airline / sports management courses. The work at past conferences can often often be tedious and the hours long but they all persevered and were always so friendly, helpful and hard working. Each and everyone of them was punctual and well turned out and everyone complimented us on their attitude. They really did the college proud and we will continue to work with the college for coming events and can certainly recommend their students for tourism related work. The college give us great support in training and briefing the students.
If there is a course that interests you please contact Carney Kerr on T: 01 8920007 or E: firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the finer details and explore how we can work to achieve your education and career goals.
