Our Makeup tutors are all experienced and highly qualified professionals who have been employed in the Fashion, Theatre, Film, TV & Media-related industries for many years.
Some are also qualified in other areas of art, design & beauty and they bring with them their skills and talent into the classroom providing students with a very broad knowledge of the creative process.
As most of our tutors are ‘working’ freelance Make Up Artists, students have the added benefit and insight into the everyday business of Makeup and are also provided with the most up-to-date information on the trends and developments in the industry.
Keynote Speakers:
Each year Portobello Institute organises a variety of keynote speakers for the Make Up courses. The speakers will come from varied backgrounds within the makeup industry. Further details outlining our keynote speakers will be given throughout the courses.
End of Year Student Exhibition:
Each year Portobello Institute showcase the skills and talents of the college’s Media Make Up students.
The exhibition will be an exciting peek at the up and coming artistic talent about to emerge from the College. The exhibition will run in conjunction with the Interior Design and Fashion Buying and Merchandising courses.
Field Trips:
As an enhancement to the course, field trips have been introduced into the Makeup courses.
Some trips will be about exploring ideas for Portfolio and character work, e.g. the Zoo for animal examples or the Botanic Gardens for inspirational Body Art examples.
Other trips will have a more commercial bias - for example going to tradeshows dedicated to Beauty, Hair and Fashion, sampling new product ranges and catching up on all the latest trends and developments within the industry.
Student Kits:
Portobello Institute was delighted to have MAC Make Up recently demonstrate a masterclass for our students. This has led to Portobello Institute being able to offer discounts to students on MAC Makeup products for their kits in their Dublin Store or online on their website. Further details are available on the MAC kit page.
Your student kit will include all the tools that you will require to practice the techniques of the course you are training on. How much you spend on your individual kit is your own decision.
