Internship Programme-Full Time Only:

The internship programme is a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience with some of the top employers in the beauty industry. The 12-week programme takes place after exams and is available to students who have attained the highest standards during the year. This type of programme is only available through Portobello Institute with many of the leading salons and spas in Ireland being involved.

Our tutors have worked in the beauty industry in the top salons with top of the range products such as Eve Lom, Matis, Dermalogica, Yonka and many more for a minimum of 5 years before being considered eligible to tutor. Some of our tutors have run their own salons so they can give you the benefit of their experience of running their own business. Our tutors continually update their skills with further professional training on an annual basis and we ensure that their knowledge is up-to-date to match the trends and developments in the beauty industry.

Key Note Speakers:

Each year Portobello Institute organises a variety of Key Note Speakers for the Beauty Therapy Courses. All the speakers have carved out very successful careers and have huge experience in the industry. The speakers come from varied areas of interest, including; Salon owners, Make-up artists, Advanced cosmetic treatments surgical and non-surgical. Examinations success:

Practical Experience in College Salon: The college operates a salon during the months of February to May. Students have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build confidence and increase practical skills while still training in a safe and supervised environment using the top professional product range - Dermalogica. This is a huge added bonus when seeking employment in the industry.

Student kits:

We have negotiated a 20-25% discount for you for the purchase of your student kit and these are available directly from the suppliers, details of which are available following enrolment. Your kit will include all the tools that you will require to practise the techniques of the course you are training on. The kit may appear expensive however remember that it is a large kit and includes products for the waxing, beauty, facial make-up, manicure/pedicure and products for the nail systems, technician tools and UV lamp required for nail technology.
