Special Needs Education Part time- FETAC Level 6 Component Certificate

The Special Needs Education diploma course is designed as a progression route from FETAC level five or as an enhancement to other courses of study related to Special Needs. The course is structured to give a broader insight, knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding disabilities and or learning difficulties.

The Special Needs Education diploma course is intended to upskill existing practitioners and to enable people to explore areas for further learning. For example at a higher level, onto University degrees or special resource teaching. Continual training, upskilling and personal development are key to those working within the field of Special Needs. Following research in the industry we have noted that continued training and development opportunities are not available for Special Needs Assistants in Ireland. We have introduced this extensive Special Needs diploma course in order to extend the knowledge and training of those already working within this rewarding industry.

Entry requirements

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. Students must have gained FETAC Level 5 Component Certificate Special Needs Assistant or equivalent to gain entry. There are no previous academic requirements.
