Insight into Play Therapy Half Day
Children find it difficult to express themselves verbally and so traditional talking therapies can be difficult for them. Play is a child's natural way of expressing themselves, and Play Therapy provides them with an opportunity to "play out" their thoughts, feelings and problems in a non-directive way, in a safe environment with a caring therapist.
Play Therapy has been used effectively with children who have an understanding level of a normal three to eight year old, who are: distraught due to family problems (e.g. parental divorce, sibling rivalry), nail biters, bed wetter's aggressive or cruel, social underdeveloped, or victims of child abuse. It has also been used with special education students whose disability is a source of anxiety or emotional turmoil.
This is a half day workshop on the exploration and benefits of Play Therapy for Children. It will show you materials used in Play Therapy sessions and you will have an understanding on how Play Therapy works.
