Community Development Certificate Full time

The Community Development course is designed to introduce you to the key concepts of community development and community development practice. The course is aimed at community activists who are involved in community development or those who wish to enter this field.

During the Community Development course, you will understand the difference between community development and community activity and appreciate community development as a tool for social change. You will learn about groups and group development as well as practical group leadership skills. You will also explore and analyse the position of young people in Irish society and society's responses to their issues and concerns.

The course deals with how to participate actively and effectively on community based voluntary management committees. You will be introduced to the area of sociology and social studies to develop your understanding and awareness of social issues in your own life and society in general.

  • FETAC Level 5 Major Award, Certificate in Community Development ECDXX

Entry requirement

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. Acceptance to Full Time courses is interview based, there are no specific points requirements.
