If you want to create imaginative, exciting and dynamic displays then this course is for you. Explore your creative talents and learn the techniques and secrets that go into professional visual Retail Display.

You will be encouraged through the completion of suitable assignments to develop your ability to observe and realise the potential in basic elements surrounding you in your day-to-day environment. You will learn to develop a hands on approach to creating imaginative eye catching creative displays and merchandising techniques that will give you the skills to join a team such as ones that are used to create magical Christmas windows all over the world.

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.

Course structure

This is a part time course delivered 1 evening per week over 9 weeks.

Course content modules

Fundamentals of Visual Display
During this module you will learn the principles of design, basic composition inducing spatial design, modular display systems and the finished artwork presentation of mood & sample boards.
In Store Display
During this module you will learn the techniques of in –store displays including the effects of lighting, appropriate signage, store design & layout, short & long term displays & points of sale.
Window Display
During this module you will learn how to create eye-catching and innovative displays that will draw the customer into the retailer and prove the success of your window design.
Seasonal Promotions
During this module you will learn how to design imaginative presentations that will best suit the season and product you are promoting.
Event Management
You will learn how to design an event from the invitations through to the event table centerpieces.
Seasonal Promotions
You will learn to make a variety of props to suit all types of presentations.
