This Garment Construction course will allow students to gain skills in the practical element of garment assembly through knowledge of fabric, cutting and stitching.

Students will discover potential for creativity through garment construction, develop an understanding of fabric and be able to display work, discuss and develop a design brief for a client. Garment construction is a rewarding and lifelong skill that takes time to master; this course offers the learner a real chance to develop these skills that sewing courses fail to achieve.

Assessment for this module is through a project and a collection of work. The learner will be required to finish x 2 garments, develop a written budget, compile a detailed booklet of sewing samples to include x 3 styles of zip, pockets and hems.

  • QQI Level 5 Minor Award in Garment Construction (5N1276)

Entry Requirement

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.
