Tony O'Gorman

Tony O'Gorman teaches the Risk Management, People Management and Sustainability and Environmental Management modules of the BIFM Facilities Management Diploma. Tony has over thirty years experience in the construction, refit, management and maintenance of buildings, plant and facilities in Ireland, the Untited States, Asia and Africa. Tony currently works as Maintenance Manager in one of Ireland's largest public hospitals. He also has eleven years experience working for Intel Ireland as a Manufacturing and Maintenance Supervisor and as equipment Maintenance Manager, where he was reponsible for a team of eighty technicians. He has also worked as a technical officer for GOAL- a leading Irish Relief and Development Agency, specialising in water, sanitation and engineering logistics. Tony also has extensive training and experience as Facilities Emergency Response Leader, working with the emergency services on fire and chemical and major event emergency planning, repsonse and control.

Tony has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology Management, a Degree in Environmental and Public Health Engineering, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is pursuing a Masters Degree in Environmental and Public Health Engineering with a specific research interest in air and water quality. He has lectured in the National University of Ireland, Galway (Schools of Engineering and Health Sciences). Tony is a certified member of the BIFM, and also holds membership of the U.K. Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Tony has substantial experience in the design and delivery of training programmes in the following areas; Advanced Maintenance Practices, Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management and Emergency Response, Quality Improvement, Innovation and Lean Plant Maintenance, Technical Problem Solving, Project Management and Supervisory Management.

John Bergin

John Bergin has over 25 years of experience in Facilities Management from both client side and outsourced FM provider.  He has extensive experience in managing multi sites both in Ireland and across Europe.  John has worked for major US and Irish companies fulfilling various facilities roles.  The experience gained from working in organizations such as AOL, Lucent Technologies and KPMG provides John with the knowledge and expertise required to successfully deliver FM services.  Electrically biased, John has the following qualifications - BA in Management form the Irish Management Institute and Diploma in Health & Safety at Work from UCD.

Des Stapleton

Des Stapleton lectures in the 'Health and Safety at work' Module and the 'FM function in an organization' Module on the ILM Level 3 programme.  Des is a driven and focused FM and Health & Safety manager who has worked with large multinationals and SME both as FM Manager and FM Contractor allowing for a varied experience and knowledge in all aspects of FM and client services.  Des has a B.Eng from the University of Dundee, as well as H.Dip from UCD in Safety Health & Welfare at work.  Des is a member of BIFM and IOSH.

Des formed FWS Ltd in 2005 which is a client focused FM and Health & Safety Management company.  FWS has attracted many high profile clients over the years where high service level and a customer focused approach have allowed them retain and grow the business.  Prior to this Des has worked with Johnston Controls serving on client accounts such as IBM, Ericsson and Pfizer.

Joanne Power

A graduate of Tourism in DIT, tutor Joanne Power began her career in the travel industry in Tavelcare.  From there she took a position in Failte Ireland and was involved in the promotion of Tourism in Ireland at National and International levels.  She spent over 10 years in Aer Lingus initially working in Sales and Marketing but mainly in the Human Resources department of the airline focusing on Recruitment, Training & Staff Development.  She is passionate about customer service in the Travel and Tourism industry and has been a tutor for the last 7 years in Portobello Institute.  She lectures in Tourism and Travel, Tour Operations, Airline Studies, Customer Service and Communications.

Orla Brennan

Tutor Orla Brennan has worked in the Travel Industry since 1995 with extensive experience in both the Retail and Corporate Marketing. Her role as key account manager included a training and development and this coupled with her experience as an Air Hostess in Emirates Airline enables the learner to understand the basic principles and duties of both cabin and ground crew in the airline industry.
