Business, Travel & Tourism Testimonials
"My experience at Portobello Institute was very positive. The course was very informative and helped me understand the fundamentals of eBusiness. The final assessment for the first year was particularly interesting and challenging as it consisted of research elements and required analytical skills to be used. I must say that the knowledge gained on this course was a great stepping stone for continuing my studies with a masters in Business Studies at Micheal Smurfit Graduate Business School UCD"

"I would just like to compliment you and the Institute on the quality of the Facility Management Course I recently did with your good selves. I was nervous applying for the course as it has been along time since I was in Institute and the thought of doing exams again was a bit daunting. However, I must say that the content of the course, the way it was presented by the tutors along with the facilities e.g. canteen, went along way to help me as I was working as well as studying. It is great to know that after a long hard day on the road that you can get a hot meal before getting stuck into study."

"I had been working as a security officer in a permanent role. Part of the job role involved an element of Facilities duties which I found really interesting and enjoyed so I decided to research Facilities Management courses and how I could develop further in this area. I found the content of the course extremely useful and relevant. It clearly outlined the procedures set in place to succeed within this sector. After completing the course I was promoted I am now responsible for all security matters. My final goal is to secure the role of Facilities Manager.

"Our tutors, all had vast but varied insight into the airline industry, and they were eager to share their knowledge and experiences with us. We studied fares and ticketing, which I found most fun and also Galileo computer reservations. We also had modules on grooming, a necessity in the airline business, as well as interview techniques and preparation and an insight into life as Cabin Crew. By the end of the interview preparation lectures we were all confident at presenting ourselves and 'selling' our CV's!! Something that was to prove extremely useful to me in the hunt for a job. I now work for Emirates as Cabin Crew and am still in touch with my classmates. Working for an airline is all I dreamed it would be and more. I have seen more of the world than I would have imagined. However, I would not be here without the presentation, guidance and skill I learned at Portobello Institute and the tools I gained there which helped me make my dream a reality."

"When I applied for three Travel and Tourism courses I had my doubts as to whether I could commit while working full time. However, I loved all three courses and now I have a job that I love going to every day. I chose to study three part-time courses - Galileo, Fares and Ticketing and Retail Travel Agency Practice. This provided me a varied insight into the industry.
I found the course content extremely relevant. The Travel Agent course was very extensive covering not only what was on the curriculum but also relevant topics and trends. This really helped me to develop my product knowledge ensuring I was aware for products and services and how to increase sales.
Throughout my studies I found the tutors really helpful and supportive and extremely knowledgeable within their field."
