Facilities Management Part time
The Facilities Management course leads to the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Facilities Management. The course aims to give learners who have limited experience in Facilities Management or learners seeking a career change to Facilities Management the foundation for their formal development in a Facilities Management role. The qualification does this by developing broad leadership and management skills and specific facilities management skills.
Facilities Management confronts various issues that organisations face today - life cycle, cost analysis, value engineering, energy efficiency, sustainability and green design, security preparedness and disaster recovery.
This course is recognised by Engineers Ireland (the Professional body for engineers and engineering in Ireland)
Students of the Facilities Management course will develop their skills in:
- Understanding Facilities Management within the context of an organisation
- Managing and developing relationships in the workplace
- Delivering service in the workplace
- Managing Health and Safety in the workplace
- Understanding the role of leadership and management in a Facilities Management context
- Managing and maintaining property and assets
- Working with costs and budgets in an Facilities Management environment
Qualifications gained
- Portobello Institute Certificate in Facilities Management
- ILM Level 3 Certificate in Facilities Management*
*The Level 3 Facilities Management award is aligned at Level 5 on the NFQ Framework.
Entry requirement
Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.

This part time course is delivered over 28 weeks, one evening a week.
