ACCA Accounting Technician Part time

The ACCA Accounting Technician course will help your career progress in any organisation. It's an established route to professional status and on completion of the course and one year's work experience (which can be completed during your studies) you can use the designation CAT after your name.

On successful completion of the course you will be in demand for your finance and accounting knowledge and skills worldwide, regardless of employment sector. The ACCA Accounting Technician Certificate qualification is recognised nationally and internationally and will help your career progress in any organisation.

Students of the ACCA CAT programme must complete 1 yrs relevant work experience to complete the qualification. This can be completed before, during or after the examinations and may be completed within any employment sector.

Qualifications gained

  • ACCA Accounting Technician Certification
    ACCA certification embeds the global accounting education standards set by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

  • The CAT qualification
    Comprises a combination of exams and practical experience. It is designed to equip you with all the necessary technical skills and knowledge required to fulfil an accounting role to technician level. It also provides a firm foundation of knowledge and the opportunity to fast track towards becoming a professional ACCA accountant.

Entry requirement

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.

Course structure

  • This is a part time course delivered two evenings a week over two years.

Course content modules

Year 1 will cover the following papers:

  1. Transaction Accounting
  2. Information for Management Control
  3. Maintaining Financial Records
  4. Accounting for Costs
  5. Managing People and Systems

Year 2 will cover the following papers:

  1. Drafting Financial Statements
  2. Planning Control & Performance Management
  3. Preparing Taxation Computations
  4. Managing Finances
