The Irish primary schools Food Dudes Programme was developed by the Bangor Food and Activity Research Unit at Bangor University, Wales and has been targeted at children across all age ranges from 2 to 12 years of age and in different environments including the home, childcare facilities and in schools. My own children’s primary school have taken part in this programme. It involves the daily free distribution of fruit and vegetables , and daily lesson plans around the importance of these foods. The children are given rewards for continuing to bring in their own fruit and veg everyday. My childrens lunchbox eating habits benefited hugely from this initiative. Check out the free resources that can be accessed on line also. Let me know if you have had any experience with the programme.
