Keeper of Irish Antiquities in National Museum will deliver guest lecture to Portobello Institute EIA Students

Ned Kelly Guest Lecturer EIA CourseWe are thrilled that Eamonn P. Kelly, the Keeper of Irish Antiquities in the National Museum of Ireland will deliver a guest lecture to EIA students on the new EIA course to begins the end of February. As Keeper he is in charge of the Irish and Foreign Archaeological Collections, Classical and Egyptian Collections and Ethnographical Collections. The Museum is a regulatory body in Irish archaeology has a statutory role in relation to the reporting of archaeological finds and in respect of excavation licensing, Ministerial Directions and Consents, Licenses to Alter (conserve) and Licenses to Export archaeological objects. The Museum also has a statutory role in respect of underwater archaeological finds. The role of the Keeper of Irish Antiquities includes advising on policy and legislation, collections management, archives management, exhibitions, fieldwork, excavation and outreach work of various types, including publication of research and lecturing to general and specialist audiences at home and abroad. Mr. Kelly has written extensively on diverse aspects of Irish archaeology.
