USIT OFFER INTERNSHIP TO PORTOBELLO INSTITUTE TOURISM STUDENT

We are delighted that USIT are interested in recruiting a Portobello Institute student for a 2 month internship in the Volunteer Department of USIT (2 days per week.) This is ideal for people who work part time or are currently unemployed. Initially a commitment for 2 months is required.After that there is a possibility of the internship being extended and they have had people who interned for 6 or 9 months which is a great plus for your CV! Airlines Student finds her DREAM JOB

We love hearing your success stories and we love seeing you progress to your dream Job. Nikki Rea- Brennan recently graduated as student of the year from our travel/tourism/Airline courses and here is what she says —- “Since finishing school in 2002 I have worked as an administrator in various companies in the financial and engineering sectors. For a few years I chose to work in temporary contracts so that I could pursue my love of travelling between jobs. I have been lucky enough to have travelled to America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and various countries in Asia and Europe. After a few too many years working in jobs that bored me and jobs that I could not imagine working in for 40 years, I finally realised that it was time to pursue a career that I am passionate about, and the travel and tourism industry seemed like the obvious choice! I completed 3 part time tourism courses in the Portobello Institute, after which I got a job in USIT in the Volunteer and Work Abroad department. I am now one of those lucky people who can say that I have a job that I thoroughly enjoy!”

Nikki will give a guest lecture to students Wednesday 8th September and will discuss her experience of GALLILEO, VIRGIN AIRWAYS and ICM Retail Travel Agency Practice as well as looking at industry trends and the skills required in the recovering Travel and Tourism Industry

We are currently offering a full range of both FETAC and Portobello Institute accredited distance learning courses from our Montessori, Childcare and Special Needs departments. Our distance learning programmes are available to study online, with course texts and assignments made available through our online learning centre. Fashion Marketing tutor Paula Kilgarrif and some of the fashion marketing management students (part time course) attended the BABY MAX WINGS OF LOVE FUND TV Fashion Event with NORWAY’S TOP MODELS on Friday, 16th July at the Guinness Storehouse
Event Organisers Darina Ní Chuinneagáin & Jennifer Rothwell were thrilled with the night and MC Lisa Fitzpatrick along with Stylist Cathy O Connor and Hairstylist Dylan Bradshaw delighted the crowd with cool, funky looks.
