One day workshop in Fire Safety and Legislation

Portobello Institute are excited to execute their first Fire Legislation workshop which is CDP approved by Engineers Ireland tomorrow, 16th September. We are fortunate to have industry expert Michael Lyons delivering this workshop.  Michael Lyons is a Chartered Engineer and a member of Engineers Ireland.  He has vast amounts of experience in this area having worked as a Fire Safety consultant and consulting engineer since 2000, and Portobello Institute are honoured to have him on-board for this specific workshop.

Within any business unit it is essential to have a thorough understanding of Fire safety and precaution.  The Fire Safety and Legislation workshop is designed to suit any professional in any industry.  Fire legislation and fire safety strategy is a vital element of facility operations and facility management.  The background to fire safety design and to fire precautions taken within a facility will be explored in this workshop.  From fire safety law to fire alarms this workshop will afford learners the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and awareness of fire safety management and practice.

Michael recently delivered a guest lecture on the subject of Fire Safety to our Facilities Management students.  Richard Lattimore (FM students) says;

"The Facilities Management course is interesting in itself, but the inclusion of Michael Lyons lecture was inspirational.  A major part of facilities management is Health and Safety, with fire safety top of he agenda.  Getting fire safety right is critical to the employees, the building and the business.  Most people are simply not aware of how fires can start, how quickly they get out of control and the devastating consequences of backdraft.  In my last role as a Facilities Manager I narrowly avoided a serious situation which emanated from the installation of 'feature lighting' which had been assembled incorrectly by the manufacturer.  Mr Lyons extensive knowledge of the subject and his enthusiasm for imparting such , completely engrossed the students.  He seriously over-ran his time, but nobody was complaining."
