Sports Therapy students work with the Parnell's GAA Club

Portobello Institutes will form a unique link with Parnell's GAA Club over the coming months as the current Sports students will work alongside the club and all adult teams.  The relationship between the two bodies will include the following:

GAA Coach Education and FETAC Level 5 programme will be delivered internally in Parnell's GAA to Portobello Institute Sports Science students.

Students will complete thier work experience in the Parnell's catchment area with schools, teams, and in the Saturday morning nursery programme - 1st steps

Parnell's GAA will be supplied wtih two students on Tuesday and Thursday who are studying Sports Massage/Therpay.  The students will assist Sean Lotts and reduce the number of players seeking rehab, rubs and strapping. 

Portobello Institute will also offer a day/night where players on their time off can attend for additional rehab at the college, supervised by a qualified Physiotherapist.

Rachel Maguire, Sports Course Director says "This is a great opportunity for our college and our sports science students to develop their knowledge in Gaelic Games Coaching and in Sports rehabilation.  We know that our students who will recieve work experience in Parnells' GAA will really benifit as will the club too.
