Manicure & Pedicure Part time

If you are interested in Nail Courses, Portobello Institute recommends that you begin with this one - the ITEC Certification in Manicure & Pedicure.

Once you have gained this qualification, you are eligible to study for further Nail Courses such as Nail Art and Nail Technician (Gel & Acrylic Nails).

The Manicure & Pedicure course gives you the knowledge that you need for Nail Therapies and the certification to take this skill to a higher level.

Entry requirements

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. There are no previous academic requirements.

Course structure

This is a part time evening course delivered 1 evening a week over 16 weeks.

Course content modules

Shaping, cuticle removal and the application of nail enamel
Recognition of nail diseases and disorders
Structure of the nail and skin
Use of specialised nail treatments such as hot oil, paraffin wax, hand masks, thermal mittens and boots
How to sanitize client's hands
Understand products and tools such as emery boards, cuticle cream, hoof stick, pedicure rasp, buffing paste, etc
How to file nails correctly according to shape
Use of base coat, buffing, enamel and top coat

FAQ

Can I do this course in conjunction with Nail Technician (Gel and Acrylic Nails)?

Yes - and it's a popular combination. We allow students to study these 2 courses simultaneously in order to save time - so you would study 2 evenings per week instead of one. Otherwise you would first have to get your ITEC Manicure & Pedicure Certificate before being allowed onto the Gel and Acrylic Nails course.
