All last week Sport Graduates and current Sports students got to put their skills to the test as they worked along the head phsyiotherapist for the Samoan Rugby Team.  This International team touched down in Dublin as part of their Northern Hemisphere Tour.

The Sports therapy team from Portobello played a major role in ensuring the atheles were in peak condition for their game against Ireland appling intense sports masasges throughout the week.

Samoa battled against the Irish last Saturday at the Aviva stadium but it was the Irish who came out winning.  However the students gained a real insight into what it is like to work with such a high calbre team and got to mix with top players such as Paul Williams who also plays for the Sale Sharks, George Stowers who plays for the London Irish and Alesana Tuilagi of the Leicester Tigers.

Matt Taylor head physiotherapist with the Samoan rugby team says "The students from Portobello Institute were crucial in the Manu Samoa’s tour recovery programme.  Their manual massage therapy skills aided our players through a very tough training regime and test preparations in Dublin and we would welcome them back on the team anytime in the future".
