Portobello Institute is committed to helping students at every stage of their career and this promise will continue throughout 2018. Further study can contribute greatly to overall career development and by improving and increasing your skillset also means increasing employability. Due to an increase in student demand and market requirements we are delighted to advise that we have adapted our blended learning BA Degree Programme in Early Childhood Studies to facilitate those who wish to further their studies through blended learning and achieve a Level 7 qualification this year!

With the course starting in February we aim to support students who wish to kick start the New Year with a new challenge and the perfect opportunity to start their goal before the year gathers pace. Importantly, to also make this level 7 degree achievable to everyone we have a tailored easy payment plan in place for students. Graduates who hold a level 6 qualification can go straight into Year 2 of the Degree Programme meaning with one year of blended study students will ultimately gain a full level 7 qualification.

Students will study this degree with the greatest flexibility through blended learning. Learners will study from February, including the summer months which can be hugely beneficial to learners traditionally having time off. Blended learning gives students the opportunity to study while working full-time. Our blended approach has been well thought-out, and is an innovative approach to learning. Study with great flexibility along with fixed recommended tutorials to attend. In short, this course enables learners to enjoy a mix of distance learning plus tutorials, online group discussions plus skype calls with dedicated tutors.

Being a small institution personal attention and support is fundamental and we understand the importance of support for study at this level. As a rule, we have a programme manager in place for the department, and every student is assigned a tutor for one to one support for each module.

The level 7 course equips graduates to implement effective practice with children and families in a range of situations and also to act as an advocate for their rights and well-being. Key course modules include:

Creative thinking and representation

Communicating in a multilingual context

Challenging inequalities

Personal social and emotional development

Approaches to Pedagogy

Holders of this award will be eligible to gain the higher capitation grant from the DCYA (Dept of Children and Youth Studies) for their role in an early childcare centre. Students can also continue their studies to level 8 BA honours degree in Early Childhood Studies.

We are now enrolling with course induction scheduled for the 3rd of February and with a scheduled completion October 2018. For full details and to start your inspiring journey today please contact Jennifer on 01 8920040 or jennifer.matteazzi@portobelloinstitute.ie
