Portobello Institute are excited to announce the launch of their new BIFM accredited Facilities Management course which commences on 23rd June, the same day as World FM takes place.  World FM is a Global FM initiative to celebrate the importance of the FM profession.  It aims to raise the FM profile around the globe, promoting facilities management's ideal.

The new BIFM Level 5 Diploma in Facilities Management is aimed at facilities managers at middle management level who have considerable experience and responsibility for more specialised and complex functions.  Achievement of Level 5 qualifications reflects the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to address broadly-defined complex problems.  It involves taking responsibility for planning and developing courses of actions as well as exercising autonomy and judgement within broad parameters.  It also reflects understanding of different perspectives, approaches or schools of thought and the reasoning behind them.  The level 5 Diploma programme consists of 8 modules, 5 of which are selected by BIFM and 3 by Portobello Institute.  Learners will develop skills in the following;

  • Facilities Management Development and trends
  • Organisational and facilities management strategy
  • Managing people in facilities management
  • Risk Management in Facilities Management
  • Financial Management in Facilities Management
  • Managing Health and Safety in Facilities Management
  • Property  and Asset Management for Facilities Managers
  • Sustainability and Environmental Management and the impact of Facilities Management

Earlier in the year Lynda Hausmanis, Head of Communications for the British Institute of Facilities Management delivered a guest lecture to our FM students highlighting the many advantages of a BIFM membership including networking opportunities, forums, training and event. Portobello Institute look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with BIFM.
